About Us

At D. Robinson and Associates, we do things a bit differently.

Objective and unbiased

First, our focus in on process, not product. We are never going to sell you anything except the value of good advice. Our approach is to provide advice, share knowledge, and help you make decisions about your finances in a completely unbiased and objective way.

We aren’t tied to any product line nor do we earn commissions through sales. Our individual clients simply pay for the time required to review their financial affairs and develop an appropriate, workable, and effective plan.

This independent perspective is also important to our corporate clients. Corporations, government departments, unions, and other organizations investing in employee education are confident of our independent perspective and value the experience we bring to our seminars.

Darryl Robinson

Darryl Robinson, R.S.W., CFP, R.F.P.

Darryl Robinson has been providing financial and retirement education seminars for over 25 years.  He was employed with the former Manitoba Telephone System and for 10 years worked closely with the HR and benefit departments to coordinate employee financial information and pre-retirement seminars.

Upon leaving MTS in 1999, Darryl became fully involved in the field of fee-only financial planning. He has continued to expand his financial and retirement education practice and regularly provides retirement education services to more than two dozen organizations.

His diverse background in both counselling and planning has provided unique insights into the issues surrounding financial and retirement planning. He has designed and delivered workshops and seminars to thousands of employees, addressing financial planning topics ranging from family financial management to retirement and severance planning issues. He has also been a sessional lecturer at the University of Manitoba, and has delivered numerous professional development seminars to financial and retirement advisors.

Darryl has been providing general financial and retirement planning services to federal government employees for over 20 years. In 2009, he successfully completed the certification process for the Public Service Pension Plan Retirement Planning Information Sessions. Over the past several years, Darryl has held the contract with the Canada School of Public Service to deliver the D001 – Planning for Retirement course.  In addition, he has also delivered a variety of retirement planning workshops for various federal  departments and agencies.  Since 2006, over 100 workshops representing more than 300 days of training have specifically been provided to federal employees.

Melody Walz

Melody has worked with municipal and federal governments, as well as private business, with an emphasis on employee insurances and pension.  Melody began delivering Pre-Retirement courses in 1989 and went on to develop and implement additional seminars designed to inform federal public servants about their various benefits.

In 2006, PSPC Pension Centre instituted a mandatory certification program for any presenters who wanted to deliver the Public Service Plan Member Education Session.  Melody jumped at the opportunity.  Early in 2007, she completed that certification process and has maintained it ever since.  This allows her to deliver the information, as set out by the Pension Centre, to federal public servants across Canada.  She has delivered in excess of 80 sessions regarding the Public Service Pension Plan.

Walz Robinson Group offers Retirement Education and Planning seminars, primarily across the Western and Northern Regions.  Melody’s understanding of pension, insurances, and counselling provide a knowledge and expertise that bring an added dimension to the course.
